Medical and Mental Health Professional Proficiency

Due to inadequate education and training based on criteria other than those related to the field, it shall be a requirement for any professional to prove their proficiency in their given field. This shall apply to any profession where actions or advice directly affect an individuals life and wellbeing. Each field shall have an exam that challenges a professionals continued education and current knowledge in order to establish their proficiency, enabling trust and reliability. These exams shall be required on a yearly basis, the results of which made available for public review. Any professional that fails such an exam shall be prohibited from providing services until adequate knowledge and training can be established. In addition a reporting system shall be made available to allow persons receiving these services the opportunity to provide feedback and trigger a review regarding services received.

This would not only prevent unqualified professionals who have received unwarranted credentials from providing services but also highlight those who fail to keep current in their respective fields due to advancements in technology or promote treatments that are detrimental to the health and wellbeing of the public.

Curious if you’ve ever taken a look at what it takes to become a therapist? It is RIGOROUS. We do, in fact, need CEUs every year, which you need if you want your license renewed each year. Took me 10 years of higher education, then 3400 hours after that of supervised counseling. It’s not easy work either.

If they were to impose something like this then they need to raise the wages of medical and mental workers.
