Medicaid Disability Benefits Portability to All States - No Waiting Lists

Children and adults with medicaid disability benefits should be able to relocate to a different state while retaining their existing benefits without interruption.

Waiting lists should be waived for children and adults diagnosed with a developmental disability. Every state should provide children and adults with disabilities medical benefits, therapies, and early intervention.

Families should not be forced to leave their homes, families, and friends, and travel hundreds or thousands of miles away from their natural support system to find medical care, treatment, and therapies for their loved ones.

Thousands of hardworking families across the United States have been displaced to find care for a family member because their state would not provide it, or due to long waiting lists.

Families should feel free to move from state to state for work or personal reasons, without the fear of their disabled loved ones losing critical health benefits because of waiting lists or lack of benefits.

Families who have children with autism are flocking to states that provide superior disability services like California, Arizona, and Colorado, due to lack of services in their home states. These states are seeing a huge influx of people and, therefore, are becoming unable to provide these benefits to those who truly need them. Every state should follow the model that these preferred states are using so that their citizens are taken care of without having to leave.
