This policy aims to safeguard public trust and constitutional rights by addressing the spread of misinformation and preventing censorship violations by media organizations. By holding the media accountable, this policy protects Americans from fear-mongering, biased reporting, and any infringement on their rights to free speech and access to information.

Policy Summary:

  1. Accountability for Misinformation:

• Media companies found spreading substantial misinformation on significant topics, including political issues and public safety, will receive up to two formal warnings.

• Following two warnings, companies will face substantial financial penalties, beginning at $1 billion, underscoring the importance of responsible journalism.

  1. Protection Against Censorship and Rights Violations:

• Any media organization found to be engaging in censorship or infringing upon constitutional rights, including freedom of speech or access to public information, will face immediate consequences.

• Such violations will result in the immediate suspension of the organization’s broadcasting license and be formally reported as an infringement on public rights.

  1. License Suspension and Congressional Review:

• Repeated violations lead to the suspension of the company’s license to operate.

• Companies may appeal to Congress to review or reapply for their license, reinforcing the importance of transparency.

  1. Escalating Consequences for Persistent Violations:

• In cases of continuous disregard for accuracy or rights violations, the policy doubles financial penalties on a second offense.

• A third violation results in permanent revocation of the organization’s license.

• Responsible individuals may face additional fines and potential jail time for recurring offenses.

If there is anything we have seen in this era of censorship, it is that media and government organizations cannot ever be allowed to define what is “misinformation” - I appreciate the spirit of your proposal but I think that it is flawed on this point and if ever implemented will be twisted by the government and corporate media interests to even further the suppression and censorship.
