When I read through the “Term Limits” espoused in the last mock CoS conference I was horrified to see that the representatives had “agreed” on term limits somewhere north of 20 years!
APPALLING!
It seems to me that is not an actual Term Limits ammendment. It will allow the same elitist cadre to maintain power, but slightly shorter for some, and not shorter at all for many.
This would be less of an issue if COS would also espouse repealing the 17th ammendment (popular election of senators).
So I would suggest that COS do the following:
- Add an amendment repealing the 17th amendment, returning the core founding principle of states’ representation within the Senate, where they currently have none.
- Term Limit House of Representatives to no more than 4 terms in the House.
