Food sold in grocery stores have a large mark up in price. A loaf of bread may cost 10 cents to produce but they are selling it for $4. This is extremely high profits. Food products or at least select food products should have set profit margins for consumers. This prevents price gouging. This is very similar to the laws and regulations placed on gas.
