Mandatory drug testing for government assistance

There are many people in this country living off of the tax payers dollar with Government Assistance, not because they can’t work, because they don’t want to. A mandatory drug screening every month should be put into place for those collecting on government assistance such as food stamps and housing. Many Americans are living paycheck to paycheck, while others are living comfortably knowing they will collect their monthly money from the government. Before allowing somebody to collect on assistance they should be subject to a mandatory drug screening, it should be mandatory to be drug free even in states where Marijuana is legal. If workers compensation doesn’t recognize medical marijuana cards, neither should government assistance programs. The mandatory drug testing can cut down on the amounts of money going out to people who do not genuinely need the help and be navigated to other causes of helping the American people.
