Mandate yearly cancer screenings as part of preventive care

The age of people developing terminal illness becomes younger and younger as we move forward. Many young people are getting diagnosed with life threatening illness everyday. People who are in their 20s and 30s are developing cancers that we are told we shouldn’t screen for until age 50. Because thorough cancer screening is not part of preventative care for everyone, many young people do not get care until symptoms are so bad they cannot be dismissed and this is often when it’s too late for them. Many young people who have mild symptoms are not taken serious by doctors because they are constantly told that they are too young to develop such illnesses however for many that is not true. The rates are increasing and everyone should have access to have screening as part of their preventative care. We should not have to have serious symptoms first in order to receive screening. I propose that adults over age 25 are able to request an annual preventative MRI/PET/CT scan as part of preventative care. Many companies are now offering this service privately however they don’t take insurance. I propose that insurance companies be mandated to allow this service as part of preventing disease and illness in America
