*Neither mine or my husbands job offers health insurance for 2. You have the option to either get individual, Individual and children, or entire family. NONE of them offer just husband and wife. We are paying for family coverage we dont even need as our children are grown and have their own insurances.
*Medicaid pays $3 for prescription copays and nothing for specialty drs or ER, etc. How is this fair? My ER copay is $300 just to walk in the door! To see a specialist, to walk in the door is |$75 and thats IF it gets approved. There should be a standard rate for ALL across the board. Its not fair those who work and pay half their paychecks into health insurance have to spend the rest on copays. And lets not forget the $5000 per person deductable we have before insurance even kicks in. Whats the sense in having it?
*Hold hospitals and medical practices accountable for inflating the bill to those with insurance verses those who pay cash. Becausse of the high deductibles and the high bills, many people wont seek treatment causing their deaths. Flat rate pricing and full transparancy would illiminate that and hold these places accountable for those price differences.
You make a good point. The sad truth is Medicare and Medicaid pay less than the cost of service. To offset those losses providers bill at 340% of Medicare and settle at around 200%. Working Americans pay double to disguise the true cost of public programs. A Universal System could solve that.
