I take HCQ for rheumatoid arthritis. The problem with making it over the counter is the very potential side effect of losing your vision. To avoid that, I take a peripheral vision test twice a year to ensure that I am not losing my vision.

I have taken Bimectin (the idiots call it “horse paste”), which is really only an apple flavored gel that contains 1.87% ivermectin. I take a full oral syringe twice a year (Spring and Fall) that equates to 1 dose per day for 5 days. This is regular anatomical house cleaning for me to remove foreign bodies and reduce the chances of cancer or other nano-parasitic-caused ailments (Cancer is now said to be caused by cellular parasitic damage that spreads from cell to cell as they mitotically multiply - which suggests why ivermectin stops cancer, since it kills parasites). Chemo-therapy targets ALL the cells when trying to treat cancer. Ivermectin only targets the parasites and the infected cells, indicating that survival chances are much higher and treatment more effective. This idea needs to be expanded. It shouldn’t be only Ivermectin that is OTC.
So many people with chronic illness have to spend years going to several different doctors, enduring many years of testing, to get a proper diagnosis for various autoimmune and autoinflammatory illnesses.
Many of these illnesses are treated with the same generics as a Stage One approach, particularly steroids or methotrexate. You could bypass years of illness, lack of ability to work, money spent by insurance companies and Medicare/Medicaid if we opened up access to people being able to treat themselves more often according to preestablished protocols.
I actually see this being done in concert with urgent care facilities or ERs. I think you still need a doctor to say that it’s a possibility that the patient has a particular condition. Just trial the darned solution! Did it help? Great. Now get the specialist involved.
Specialists, particularly rheumatologists, are the laziest so-and-sos on the planet. They want the diagnosis already handed to them and that usually just isn’t going to happen. “Oh, you have a high-titer ANA with elevated cytokines, joint pain, frikkin aneurysms!!!, AD, vision loss, dry eye, mouth sores, microbleeds on your brain, and a bunch of DNA results indicating either Behcet’s or systemic sclerosis? Come back to me when your PCP figures out the answer and gives me the answer.”
Actually, I think what is happening is that hospital systems are milking well-insured patients for every gd cent they can get to cover for the Medicaid losses. This is delaying perhaps life-saving care to those insured patients because they are dragging out the diagnostic process over years and several medical specialties.

Agree. Just like any other OTC medication the directions and risks need to be included. In general, you also cannot take aspirin or ibuprofen in certain situations or daily. It’s the same concept. No people should not take medications that are for pets because there can be fillers etc in those products that are not meant for human consumption. Ivermecting and HCQ have been used for decades with less incidence than many other pharm products.
Some states have already made HCQ OTC.
I Agree with you for every move to be constitutionally correct there is someone with a counter move. First we were not allowed to have access to it and now that we are allowed by state law the price is so high $3 a pill who can afford it . Ivermectin from INDIA cost 30 or 40 cents a pill and the problem with buying it from there is you have to deal with a lot of scamers . But if the seller will allow payment with PayPal you have protection of non delivery and if you buy a name brand that is sold here you have a good product i got the 12mg before with no problem taking it . Trump tried to make it available and free to citizens but some person blocked it.

It’s available over the counter in many places in TN. Ivermectin is outstanding for many maladies but I use as a prophylactic twice per week and have been able to avoid illness for a long time. It’s expensive and has been around for along time. Many of us who travel overseas carried with us!

I agree. I take 12mg every day. I have advanced Prostate Cancer and am trying to help my immune system. I get from India at $150 for 3 months. It is criminal that it is not over the counter.
All dewormers, including Ivermectin and Panacur + HCQ. There’s such a low adverse reaction rate, that they’re virtually harmless. Having Ibuprofen and acetaminophen on store shelves is far more dangerous, yet we’ve managed for decades.
