Congress, all of them, are paid on a base salary. Not expanded for CoL or time-in-grade. This base salary is broken down into a daily pay rate. That rate is contingent on clocking in for work, not remotely and not automatically, they HAVE to be physically present to clock in. Just like the other citizens, if they clock in and then leave again, they’re disciplined, if it happens twice they’re fired. If they’re out for the day, they must take PTO if they want to get paid that day’s wage. That PTO IS limited, they get a fixed amount per year, sick time deducts from it, just like a normal job.
