California Health Freedom Act
Purpose:
To protect individual medical freedom by making childhood vaccination a voluntary choice for parents and guardians, without restrictions on public or private school attendance.
Section 1: Findings
The Legislature finds and declares:
- Parents and guardians should retain the right to make informed medical decisions for their children.
- Mandates may infringe on personal, religious, and philosophical beliefs.
Section 2: Vaccine Choice and Education
All vaccination requirements for California public and private school attendance will be optional. Vaccination status will not affect a student’s eligibility to attend or receive a public education.
Section 3: Medical Education and Transparency
- Health agencies shall provide accessible, science-based information on both the benefits and risks associated with vaccines, promoting informed decision-making for parents.
Section 4: Repeal of SB 277
SB 277, which eliminated personal belief exemptions, is hereby repealed.
Section 5: Effective Date
This Act shall take effect on January 1, 2024 retroactive following its enactment.
