Make Babies Affordable Again
We the people want Americans to have children. WIC is a government program that helps poverty stricken people but helps no one else. Working with diaper and formula companies, offering these products can help make a woman decide to actually keep her baby and not have an abortion.
Creating a mandate or incentive for companies to give more paid time off for parents that have children so they can afford to take care of their child when they’re sick.
If we don’t support women having children, we can’t say a word about women that abort them.
I raised two daughters in my own. I know, firsthand, the hardships it creates. Conservatives want less abortions yet look down upon someone on food stamps.
We have to come up with creative ways to help support new babies being born in America and not being aborted. I believe a lot more women would have children if they could afford it.
Top costs of having a baby:
Daycare
Formula
Diapers
Time off work
Medical care and supplies
Also include the labor and delivery costs. When I had my son, I had an HMO and it cost me $10. Now it’s over $10k to have a child with insurance. This is a major factor in young people not being able to afford to have children even with insurance.
Agreed! As a soon-to-be wife, it makes me weary to have kids with all the costs that come with it and little maternity leave. I want to have a big family but even just the cost at hospitals to have a baby can be tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars. It’s almost unaffordable today, so yes Make Babies Affordable Again!
I agree with this, yet this has more to do with Healthcare which is notably expensive due to administrative costs, high prices for services and medications, and a system that often emphasizes extensive medical testing. These costs can be overwhelming for low-income individuals facing medical issues. For example: I had an all natural birth with no medication administered ;
With two insurance companies to help me (Cigna PPO-HMO/ BLUE SHIELD PPO-HMO) they covered 20% of my $55k balance
Reviewing my bill: I was charged $50 for one tablet of 500mg ibuprofen
And $30 for one tablet of stool softener. These extremely high costs add up overtime this is why having a child is so expensive… while in Canada childbirth is $0 child cost (food, clothing, medical/dental, childcare) is completely covered by their gov. Until age 18
I agree. I’m pro-life but quite frustrated when Republicans talk a big game about being pro-family and the value of parental time, but shoot down legislation that would advance those values.
Would you please consider my proposal? Among other things, it grants 12 weeks federal paid maternal leave, extends that option to full time working students, offers paid family leave for fathers in certain situations and also offers full time working parents the option to get 8 hours unpaid weekly time off once their paid leave ends.
