Major Restructuring of Schools Nationwide

The school days and/or weeks should be shortened and much of the time in school should be spent creatively (art, dress up, free play, hands on creating, yoga and meditation, music, singing, experiments, growing food, being outside where we are meant to be!) Studying nature should be a huge part of education especially in the preschool and elementary levels.

Yes, and let’s start teaching life skills to high school students like basic money management, living within a budget, investing, bill paying, value of good credit, how to manage a credit card, bank account, checkbook, how to purchase a car, a house, plan for college, how to take out a loan, interest rates, creating a will, a trust, advanced directives, paying taxes.

This is the type of math we need to be teaching in schools! Applicable math.

We also need to teach basic household chores, how to interview, interpersonal skills, how to access available resources for college or technical schools.

Bring strong mentors to the school and teach kids how to be strong leaders.

So many things.

While I agree with the sentiment - hard topics should also be included.

Montessori schools still teach science, biology, earth science, history, etc - they just do it in a different way than a proto-typical school (like the ones I went to and, presumably SO MANY others did).

I do agree with adjusting how we think of education though. I like the idea that there can be educational goals per student. I think having trades introduced early on in the educational process would be beneficial.

I know there are a lot of studies about Arts and Music and its impact on vocabulary, history, and math that show a positive correlation between those subjects. I know in the 90s a lot of schools removed art and music from programs, and we’ve been riding that wave for a while now, and I don’t think it’s yielded the results people wanted.

I think this rather applies to lower elementary more than it does Middle or High school. ALTHOUGH, i like the idea of experiments and the growing of food in all levels of education. I remember having Home Economics in High School where we cooked meals for the class.

We used to. At least my school did… you know… back in the day. Credit Card management wasn’t but they were less used back then. Large item purchases also weren’t covered either, but most of these were.

Believe it or not, nature is everything. Mathematics, science, emotions, arts, ……what is truly important in life??? We have to understand that our society in general needs to seriously be overlooked and shifted. A lot of the topics mentioned should actually be taught at home by mothers and fathers, grandmothers and grandfathers. Part of the problem with society is the deterioration of family. Lack of social belonging and connection. We need major raises in consciousness on a societal level and nature is an amazing gateway to expand.

The tried and true recipe for a stable and happy family life, although old-fashioned, I believe would solve many of today’s societal issues. We stopped letting men be men, bread winners, and the leader of their families. Our material want list became long and forced women out the door and into careers that take time and energy from the family unit. Children land in the hands of extremely expensive providers who do not care as much about their well-being as their mother would. The early years of a child’s life are fragile, fleeting, and will determine the outcome of success on an emotional, physical, and developmental standpoint. The further we get from God, the more chaos will ensue. There are plenty of years to build and grow a career once the children are well established and in school full-time. Our time and energy can only be stretched so far. Live simply for a time, honor God’s plan for our lives, and He will prosper us. You are right, many answers are in nature….God’s provision.:relieved::heart:
