This bill extends entitlement for various benefit programs and services for surviving spouses of deceased members of the Armed Forces or veterans. This bill has passed the Senate but has sat with the House since. Pass the bill!

the bill is not perfect, but in principle, no surviving spouse should be forced to stay single out of fear of losing the benefits of being the wife of a deceased veteran. Remarriage allows folks to move on in a world that requires both the husband and wife to work. It’s laughable that a military wife could lose DIC benefits trying to move on. They already sacrificed enough. I agree with the suggested language…
“The bill also provides that the remarriage of a surviving spouse must not bar the furnishing of dependency and indemnity compensation to such spouse.”
