Legalize and Save the Integrity of Natural and Plant/Fungi Medicines

  1. Natural plant and fungi medicines such as Marijuana and psychedelic mushrooms, be legalized for personal cultivation and use. These two examples of plant/fungi medicines have no physical dependence and neither have ever shown to have an overdose threshold and there is no evidence of these medicines causing death of the user due to overdose. Not only are theses plant/fungi medicines non-lethal or nontoxic, they provide many useful medicinal benefits such as those listed below.
    a. Marijuana: Per the nccih.nih.gov website, “Drugs containing cannabinoids may be helpful in treating certain rare forms of epilepsy, nausea and vomiting associated with cancer chemotherapy, and loss of appetite and weight loss associated with HIV/AIDS.” In addition, some evidence suggests modest benefits of cannabis or cannabinoids for chronic pain and multiple sclerosis symptoms." Studies listed on the same NIH website stated that the following health conditions have shown to benefit from the use of cannabinoids: decreases chronic and neuropathic pain, aids in decreasing the dependency and use of opioid medications, decreases anxiety and treats PTSD, treats epilepsy, glaucoma, symptoms of HIV/AIDS, treats inflammatory bowel disease and IBS symptoms, treats symptoms of multiple sclerosis, provides relief of nausea and vomiting in cancer patients and is even credited to help with movement disorders such as severe tic or patients with Tourette Syndrome.
    b. Per the same NIH website, psychedelic mushrooms have been shown to have beneficial medicinal effects of the following: Cancer-Related Psychiatric Distress, Treatment-Resistant Depression, PTSD and other traumas, treats addictions, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, and Cluster Headaches.

  2. Remove Big Pharma and Mega Corporations from cultivation and selling of any natural, plant medicines found and originally produced by nature. Big Pharma and Mega Corporations should not be allowed to cultivate and monitize on any naturally occurring medicines. Marijuana and both functional and psychedelic mushrooms should only be cultivated and sold by small companies that ethically grow or source thier products organically, without the use of chemicals and pesticides in the growing process.

  3. Plant/fungi medicines may not be genetically modified for any reason.

Forgot to add the following additional benefits of psilocybin therapy:

  1. Psychedelic drugs are reportedly promising agents for intervening neurodegenerative processes.

  2. Psychedelics have beneficial effects on behavior, cognition, learning and memory. (through neurogenesis and neuroplasticity, psilocybin literally remaps the brain for optimum function)

  3. Psychedelics emerge as promising candidates in the treatment of AD and dementias. (Again, through neurogenesis and neuroplasticity)

This is a great start and I fully support an effort like this - so many people would benefit from the removal of the stigma of these medicines as “drug use” - what propaganda we have been fed!

I would include plant medicines beyond Marijuana and Psilocybin. Ayahuasca, Iboga and other similar plant medicines have deep healing properties on the physical, emotional, energetic and spiritual levels. While they should be utilised in a safe environment, held by a suitable being with integrity, their use is worthy of being legal and available to all who seek them. They are all medicines, not drugs.

Yes! Agreed. I am not ad familiar with the others you mentioned, but I do agree with those uses in appropriate settings.
