Legal right to repair

Too many companies are enforcing that any item bought in the store from televisions to vehicles to phones and many more are being locked behind software by companies who don’t want the consumer who purchased the product to repair the product if something breaks. Especially with products no longer supported. Where companies do everything in their power to remove any way to purchase parts or make a repair. In the case of Samsung and Apple phones multiple times both companies were found to update the product with firmware that throttles the device to force the user to buy a new one. In todays standards of “terms and conditions” even something as simple as a basic tv is by all intents and purposes not owned by the consumer because of the terms and conditions.

Everyone should have the right to repair everything. You purchase it, it becomes yours without restriction. Companies could be graded on how consumer friendly they are or how repairable their products are.

People don’t understand how much money this takes out of their pockets. This is a huge issue impacting all Americans and people need to be educated.
