Label Transparency

FDA should not allow companies to hide publicly known ingredients under technical “pseudonyms”(I. E. the many different names of added sugar, MSG or other).

People should have the right to know what is actually in their food.

Clearer/more transparent labels on foods paired with investigation on the rise of food allergies among children and adults is much needed.

They should not just be labeled BUT banned altogether!

Yes!! I am an adult with Alpha Gal and other flood allergies as well. The food labels/ingredients are not always friendly. For example, if the label says “fruit juice”… Well, what kind of juice??? I am allergic to apple. That should definitely be listed or if the label says “natural flavors” what is that derived from? Mammal? Vegetable? Anything that is put in our food should be listed out in the ingredients. EVERYTHING.

When they don’t list everything, it makes me have to contact the company and ask what is in their products and sometimes they don’t even know! It’s very frustrating! I know a lot of people with food allergies and Alpha Gal feel the same as I do!

Also, it would be helped to have an Alpha Gal safe label if things are alpha gal safe. Sort of like they have with dairy free, gluten free, etc.

Disclose what is in natural flavors and proprietary ingredients

I have experienced the same frustrating lack of knowledge when contacting companies regarding specific ingredients. I too am allergic to apples as well as beef and a multitude of other foods. My allergies are not specifically tied to Alpha Gal, but I think that adding a category for it similar to Gluten Free would also help those of us who are allergic to some of the same things.

What I keep running into is the confusion most people at restaurants have between food allergies and gluten allergies. When I ask for an ingredients list due to my allergies, I am often given a gluten free menu that is not relevant. Better information programs are needed.

Please require clear, transparent labeling for gluten. My child has celiac disease, which means they cannot consume any gluten. Unfortunately, gluten is not currently classified as a top allergen by the FDA, so it often isn’t explicitly listed on product labels.

Gluten is present in wheat, barley, and rye. While wheat is recognized as a major allergen, barley and rye are not — and they frequently hide under vague terms like “natural flavors,” “caramel color,” “smoke flavoring,” “yeast,” “malt,” and more. Without clear labeling, I’m left calling manufacturers to confirm if a product is safe. Most of the time, they tell me their “natural flavors” come from a supplier and are proprietary, meaning even the manufacturer doesn’t even know exactly what’s in the product.

This issue impacts millions of people. Roughly 2–3 million Americans have celiac disease, and another 19 million suffer from gluten intolerance. For individuals with celiac disease, accidental gluten ingestion can lead to severe illness and intestinal damage, which over time increases the risk of life-threatening conditions like intestinal cancers and lymphoma.

Labeling gluten clearly is not just a convenience — it’s a matter of health and safety. I urge you to require that gluten be explicitly listed on product labels, just like other major allergens. This change would make a meaningful difference for millions of Americans who rely on transparent labeling to stay safe and healthy.

If you only use organic chemical free foods gluten wold not be an issue. The world is being lied to on a global scale. The true issue is that the wheat used is so poisonous our body reacts. Put the blame where it is due. Pesticides and Herbicides are killing us. Once they Cabal is exposed everyone will know what i know. I operated an organic chemical free restaurant for 3 years. The FDA/EPA/AMA Pharmaceutical rabbit hole is almost bottomless. I hope RFK and MAHA helps your child.

Ps do you use the “Bobby Appoved” app. It will help you isolate the ingredients and in some cases the origins of the ingredients. BA is available on Google and iPhone.

Celiac here. We need better labeling in our country.

Gluten is a protein found in not only wheat, but also barley, and rye. While our wheat may have changed over the decades, celiac disease has existed for centuries. Celiac disease affects more people in Italy per capita than any other country, and the wheat they use is very different from the United States. Choosing different wheat does not change celiac disease. We need to know what’s in our food. Barley and Rye must be labeled.

This absolutely should be top priority. We run a beverage copack facility and have several brands, and the lack of enforcement and transparency surrounding Stevia, Erythritol, and being able to able them as “natural” is beyond dangerous. There simply have not been enough studies to show them to be safe. Our lead scientist’s emphasis in his biochem degree was in Glycan science and his explanation of how the body processes sugar should give us pause. The emergent studies showing the higher rate of heart related issues, even in young people, should, at the least, ensure that we have our products labeled properly. We need a team of research scientists from renowned universities versus corporate chemists to at least be on the FDA council overseeing this.

Also label more for soy as there are people that are allergic to the oils and derivatives but they are not labeled now. As someone who has 19 groups of food allergies anything that could give me a larger diet would be appreciated and not having to waste money on things I end up having to throw away. It would be nice also since most of the allergy friendly foods are not cheap so throwing away really hurts my budget.

Label transparency is a matter of public health and individual rights. Any gluten ingredients in particular need to be labeled–and that includes listing out natural flavors, colors, and proprietary formulations. People with celiac’s need to know. Many brands can’t even answer about ingredients when called because they have some other company manufacture the products. That is unsafe for people with major health issues. It’s also just bizarrely unreal that consumers can’t easily see what we may put in our bodies.

While I do agree with this mostly, some organic foods at big box stores are NOT organic and have been greenwashed and they are certainly not affordable for the average family. Not only that, but the packaging can also contan gluten. It’s not that easy. Envelope glue, paper straws, meat glue, and paper utensils and packaging can all cause an issue. It’s not JUST the food, but also the packaging. I am telling you this as someone who eats organic and grass-fed who has celiac. Some brands also say they are grass-fed and use things like meat glue which can also trigger a response for those with celiac and some things I have read seem to point to it being something that can trigger celiac to start in a person. There are so many factors and layers behind this and it is hardly researched.
