Invitation to Mexico from the United States to join the union

Proposed Policy for Mexican Integration as the 51st State

My personal thoughts
If Mexico became the 51st state, the U.S. military would swiftly eradicate the cartel threat, pushing remaining factions into South America or incarcerating them. This would allow for a smaller, 156 mi secure border wall at Mexico’s southern edge—cost-effective and safer then trying to control are almost 2,000 mi almost impossible to control border we have now. With the cartel influence gone, a wave of job creation would follow, focused on building roads, schools, hospitals, and transforming Mexico into the most stunning recreational state in the U.S. The current Mexican president would become the governor, and Mexican citizens would gain full American status, making it a win-win for everyone involved. It would probably take a decade or more to get a deal like this done and clear Mexico of criminals before we open up the northern border and obviously we would want to secure the southern border of Mexico at the same time. We spent 20 years in Iraq and trillions of dollars for absolutely nothing to show for it. I’m not saying every Mexican would become Republican after this but they sure would be thankful.

I. Introduction The integration of Mexico as the 51st state of the United States represents a bold and strategic policy initiative with significant implications for both nations. This policy outlines the framework and potential benefits of such an unprecedented union, emphasizing the economic, social, and political advantages that would accrue to the United States and Mexico.

II. Strategic Rationale

  1. Economic Synergy:

Expanded Market Opportunities: Unifying the economies of the United States and Mexico would create a seamless North American market, boosting trade, investment, and economic growth on both sides of the border.

Resource Optimization: Mexico’s rich natural resources, including oil, minerals, and agricultural products, would enhance the economic strength of the United States, reducing dependence on imports from other global regions.

Labor Force Integration: Merging workforces could bridge skill gaps and provide robust labor solutions for industries across North America, promoting innovation and productivity.

  1. Geopolitical Stability:

Strengthened Regional Security: A unified governance structure would facilitate enhanced border security, anti-cartel efforts, and cooperative intelligence-sharing to combat organized crime and terrorism.

Reduced Migration Pressures: By addressing economic disparities through unified policies, the root causes of migration would be mitigated, leading to a more balanced flow of movement between the two territories.

  1. Cultural and Social Benefits:

Diversity and Cultural Enrichment: Integrating Mexico’s vibrant culture into the broader American society would enrich cultural perspectives, strengthen community ties, and foster mutual respect.

Enhanced Social Programs: Unified healthcare, education, and infrastructure policies would benefit millions by raising living standards, reducing poverty, and promoting social cohesion.

III. Benefits to Mexico

  1. Economic Growth and Stability:

Access to Infrastructure Investment: As part of the United States, Mexico would gain access to federal investments in infrastructure, creating jobs and modernizing critical public works.

Improved Trade Terms: Integration would remove tariffs and barriers, making trade more efficient and boosting local industries.

  1. Political Representation and Influence:

Enhanced Voice in Federal Decisions: By becoming a state, Mexico would gain representation in Congress, providing a direct channel for its population’s interests at the federal level.

Stronger Rule of Law: Integration would bolster the judicial system, promoting stability and reducing corruption through adherence to established U.S. legal frameworks.

  1. Social Advancements:

Access to Social Programs: Residents would gain access to social security, healthcare programs, and welfare benefits that improve quality of life.

Educational Opportunities: Increased access to U.S. educational resources and scholarships would expand opportunities for youth and strengthen the overall workforce.

IV. Implementation Framework

  1. Legal and Constitutional Processes:

Referendums and Legislative Approvals: Both countries would need to hold referendums to gauge public support and ensure democratic legitimacy. The U.S. Congress and Mexican government would collaborate on constitutional amendments as needed.

  1. Economic Integration Plan:

Gradual Phase-In: Implement a phased approach to align economic policies, tax structures, and regulations, ensuring minimal disruption to existing systems.

  1. Cultural Integration Initiatives:

Bicultural Education Programs: Launch educational campaigns to promote language learning, cultural appreciation, and mutual understanding across populations.

V. Conclusion Joining the United States as the 51st state presents an opportunity for transformative change for both nations. For the United States, it means an expanded economy, bolstered security, and deeper cultural richness. For Mexico, it promises economic uplift, improved governance, and access to social benefits. This partnership, if executed with care and mutual respect, could pave the way for a more prosperous, secure, and integrated North America.

All of Mexico as 1 state?

Mexico is about 100k sq mi bigger than Alaska and just a hair over 127 million more people.

I don’t think a blanket 51st state in the Union would be applicable to this scenario.

Given those numbers, would you suggest a change? If so, how many states would Mexico realistically be broken into then?

Mexico is a little less than three times the size of Texas:
Mexico: 761,600 square miles
Texas: 268,597 square miles
Alaska: 586,412 square miles

Certainly a deal would have to be agreed upon by both nations before breaking it down into fractions. I know it sounds like a crazy idea. With the open border that we’ve have now there is no stopping people coming or going through the border. Currently Americans are allowed to go into Mexico and leave at any time. And vice versa illegals are allowed to basically walk across the boardy at any time and go back in at any time. This is about eliminating the cartel using the US and Mexican military and then securing the southern border of Mexico. And rebuilding Mexico The economic benefits would be amazing for industry workers and I don’t know about you but I love tacos and there’s no better tacos than south of the border for tacos. I’ve been to Mexico 99.9% of Mexicans are wonderful fantastic people with hearts of gold and an amazing culture. Their biggest problem is their corruption and oppression by the cartels.

Not discounting the veracity of your statement on the quality of Mexicans. Just that its a LOT of land with a LOT of populace. If it got absorbed into the US, it shouldn’t as only 1 state. A few states, but not a single.

Mexico’s northern border with the United States is much longer than its southern border with Belize:

  • Northern border

The border between Mexico and the United States is 1,952 miles (3,141 kilometers) long. It runs through the Mexican states of Baja California, Sonora, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León, and Tamaulipas.

  • Southern border

The border between Mexico and Belize is 156 miles (251 kilometers) long. It runs along the Río Hondo and limits the state of Quintana Roo.

Controlling 156 mi border versus 1950 mi border financially and logistically it seems to make more sense

I mean, as it is right now Mexico has 31 states. Would it not be feasible to use that structure?

Yes of course. I’m not familiar with the Mexican government. But if all their governors and their president and the U.S. three branches of government would agree.

I like the idea of Mexico joining the US.
