Investigate shootings , violence and suicides tied to prescription drug adversities

Mass shootings, violence and even suicides have increased in America along with commonly prescribed psychotropics for ADHD, depression, anxiety and gender dysphoria. The “black box” drugs have significant potential risks that include homicidal thoughts, suicidality, dissociation and more. Many mass shooters have mental health issues that likely involve these class 2 narcotics but few are connecting the dots, the medical records are shielded from the public and powers that be hide behind HIPAA even when the shooter is dead! There are some unbiased researchers who have accumulated data on mass shootings, violence and suicide and tied them to known prescription drug side effects. There must be more investigation from researchers with No conflicts of interest. Other countries with similar gun laws do NOT have the suicide, violence and shootings rates but also do not have the overly prescribed psychotropics. Why are we not truly investigating rather than allowing Pharma and anti gun advocates to control the narrative? These “drugs for life” have adversities while on the drugs and while withdrawing from them. At least look into these issues and determine if there should be better policies around signature based informed consent, requiring psychiatrists monitor patients on these dangerous drugs and require a tapering off program from the narcotics.

@MicheleS1 Hey, thanks for submitting these notes. I am also working on improving the state of our Mental Health. It is a complex, elusive, problem, but ideas like yours bring us a little closer to realizing how to “untangle it” from affecting our lives.

I linked your policy to a category I am calling: “Mental + Emotional Health in School and Professional Settings”. When you visit, you can see other policies that have been posted which might provide new insights.

Thank you :pray:t2:

Thank you for posting this one as I came to this portal to suggest it but you did it much more eloquently than I ever could have. I’m a retired Marine and have known more people in the last 5 years to attempt or succeed with suicide than in my whole life prior, and every single one was on some type of antidepressant or anti anxiety cocktail.

I have no idea how to help or what to do.
