Install the National Debt clock in both chambers of the House and the Senate.
This way, all of our representatives will see the national debt in real-time as they pass funding bills
that will increase the national dept

  • Making them think twice before they vote
  • This puts this issue right in front of their faces
  • There would be no argument on how their decisions affect the National Debt
  • A Reminder to out representatives that they need to stop spending

I love this idea! But I also wish we could create a “downward force” on this issue. Maybe something like if debt is higher than GDP it prevents congress from sending any money to foreign entities. Something like that?

I’m pretty sure that the members of House and Senate are fully aware of what the National Debt it.

The problem is that they just don’t care.

God, I love the optics of this.

However, I borrowed Warren Buffett’s policy proposal and wrote a detailed policy here: Fiscal Responsibility and Congressional Accountability Act

It could be very helpful if Congress and Senate were required to have a large physical running Debt Clock in the front of the Chambers where they vote on bills. Maybe…Just Maybe they would receive some conviction of the costs for the actions they take before they vote on increasing our debt. https://www.usdebtclock.org
