Healthcare workers deserve an increase in wages. Healthcare workers are the backbone of this healthcare system. As a nurse writing this, I am speaking for everyone included in healthcare. Medical assistants, techs, housekeeping, respiratory and so much more! The average person who doesn’t work in healthcare sometimes doesn’t fully understand the emotional and physical work that goes into this job. We are dealing with life and death on a daily basis. We are not compensated fairly and there NEEDS to be a change.
As an ER nurse in a busy city hospital, we are not paid enough for the things we see and go through. The toll it takes on us to care for the people of our country does not add to our “slave labor” pay. Being physically assaulted by patients as well as verbally assaulted on a daily basis isn’t what we signed up for. Nurses are the punching bags of healthcare, underpaid and overworked. Not to mention being short staffed and not getting hazard pay. Stop making healthcare a business and treat your employees with respectable pay.
