Want healthy kids?
You could start by improving what schools feed them without screwing over the kids, the school, or the suppliers. Many schools have a full kitchen but lack funding for staff, equipment, repairs, training, etc.
Improve school infrastructure for storing, managing, and sourcing fresh foods. School budgets are low and they can rarely afford fresh produce.
Make a program where schools can use subsidies to buy fresh produce (perhaps from local farmers), kitchen equipment, or other necessities or create a discount program with local suppliers for the same.

Many districts have the menus dictated to them by the state. All processed foods, half goes in the trash, by the time they get home they’re starving and eat whatever they get their hands on. Better food, prepared well is a real need.
