USA meets with Putin and Zelensky.
-
USA tells Putin, “We will be withdrawing from and deactivating NATO, effective immediately. Withdraw from Ukraine, you can keep Crimea and Donbas. All sanctions lifted and proceed with normal economic trade.
-
USA tells Ukraine, “You had your chance to get out but chose to deal with the likes of the Biden family tree. You will be a neutral country like Switzerland and exit Russia immediately. Return all Military hardware and money to donating nations. We will help rebuild your country.”
-
USA tells NATO: “this is over. We’re out, and we request this be dismembered immediately.”
That is utterly unrealistic. The US has no say in NATO continuing or being disbanded. If the US leadership gets real stupid and pulls out, then demands that NATO be disbanded, they will laugh at us.
The US would not get anything back, money or equipment. Ukraine can not afford to stop fighting as long as Putin keeps the war going. Putin has already said he will not talk unless we give him Ukraine and stop the sanctions punishing him for his aggression. Putin is not going to be ordered around. He’d rather wreck his country than swallow any of pride.
Ukraine will not cede any territory that has been stolen by Russia, and it is utter idiocy to try to force them to do so. That is simply Munich 2.0 and would mean the name of Trump would be mud forever.
I don’t think it’s unrealistic at all. Putins’s been against NATO expansion for 20 years. What did NATO do? Expanded.
Showing Putin we want nothing to do with NATO and we’re getting out of it, pride or no pride, would mean a lot to him.
And yes I think the US can dismantle NATO - by leaving it.
Merely leaving NATO will not dismantle NATO. It will destroy any possibility for influence on the world scene, however, and that is dangerous in the long run.
That Putin did not like NATO expansion is irrelevant. Russia inspired it as eastern Europe had long, hard years of experience with Russia and wanted the protection of an alliance so they could deal with Russian aggression with some help from the neighbors. Russia brought it on themselves, and I don’t have a lick of sympathy for Putin. Given his actions in Ukraine, everyone knows why he hates NATO. The only threat NATO is to Russia is to Putin’s imperialism.
If you want Putin’s contempt, then leave NATO. You probably don’t know that Russia has wanted the US out of NATO since its beginning. Putin is hoping it would mean the end of NATO, but that is not necessarily the case. Beside, why would you want to give Europe to Russia. That is also something Russia has been wanting for a long time.
Europe is not the US’ responsibility. You don’t need to push influence by having 50 military bases scattered across the continent (or whatever number that is). Economic influence is just as easy to attain, but blowing up their main pipeline certainly isn’t a cordial first step. This would be like if Russia blew up the Keystone XL pipeline but somehow convinced the world that that the US did it.
Who says Russia wants all of Europe? The media certainly wants us to believe that.
And so what if they do? What if they don’t? No one actually knows because everyone is ASSUMING he wants to invade everyone and everything. Russia invading Ukraine is akin to the US invading Mexico because Russia told us in the 90s its military pact wouldn’t extend north of Columbia….and all the sudden they’re amassing a Mexican Military in 2024. Um, nope?
My point is Russia has ZERO reason to trust anything out of our mouths - we’ve spent decades now lying to him and playing puppet master with every country we interact with in Europe.
But this is part of a larger problem. The military industrial complex needs an enemy and terrorists in caves with AKs and RPGs weren’t bringing in enough revenue.
