Please implement a policy that housing cant be greater than the cost of living!!! Please have rents be able to be affordable by 1 persons minimum wage income. Most Americans make minimum wage! And they’re living in their cars or small vans or with roommates to afford living. Please fix this housing Crisis!!! It’s an epidemic!!! 1 person needs to be able to afford rent, utlities, and food and have money left over to save for emergencies monthly!!! Minimum wage is 2700 and rent is 2300 to 2600!!!
I disagree, certain areas are worth more based on desirable qualities. Instead we should own the property that we buy fully and not have to pay things like property taxes once they’re fully paid off. People should be able to work for pricier things, as long as there’s a reason the property is worth that much. We should also stop large corporations from buying up all the single family homes
I disagree, in most cases rent is based on inflation and covering operating expenses. I am a landlord and had to raise the rent on my rental property because insurance rates increased, utility costs increased, and property taxes increased. Landlords can’t offer housing at a financial deficit.
Sorta takes away the whole free market concept. Bad idea. Many people use their home as an investment to cash in near retirement. There should be some upside to offset the cost of home ownership. Value appreciation does this.
If they had a no profit rule regarding housing to prevent homelessness in areas where people make under 100,000.00, then it would only require renters to pay what the bank states the monthly mortgage is. So if the monthly mortgage is $900, and you want to charge renters 1,900 would be illegal. You’re either going to stay in that house and pay off the mortgage, or you’re going to allow someone else the renter to pay only what you’re legally obligated to pay in the monthly mortgage fee.
Yes, this is a huge problem, apartments and rentals were supposed to allow people, who could not purchase a home, access to affordable housing. Rent prices are way too high and I’m sure this is adding to our homeless population. I understand the position of the landlord, the burden should not be placed on them. I don’t know what the solution is, the cost of insurance and property taxes drive the prices up I’m sure, but this is definitely a crisis and really needs to be addressed!
Believe it or not this is directly related to illegal immigration. As more people looking for homes causes the prices to sky rocket. Its supply and demand. If the new administration gets rid of illigeals you’ll see these prices drop.
