Palliative programs should developed and reimbursed by the government allowing healthcare providers to provide care to individuals with comorbidities ,chronic diseases and terminal illness. Palliative care should be required before hospice unless the individual truly has less than six months to live. There are many individuals being admitted to hospice who do not meet the criteria and there are many hospice agency providing inappropriate aggressive treatment the individuals often deciding treatment are Registered Nurses who do not have prescriptive authority or licensing to make these type of decisions (many practicing outside their scope of practice).
