Homeschool Tax Credits

Provide tax credit for homeschool families that are paying for public schools to encourage independent education and provide additional resources to those opting out of a failing education system. In many states like Maryland, homeschool students aren’t even allowed to use many of their state’s public school resources like playing sports. If homeschool students aren’t even allowed to play sports or any other resource their taxes pay for, then they should not have to pay taxes or receive some form of credit.

It should be illegal to prohibit homeschool students from athletic competition. We should be nurturing their health not preventing them from getting exercise and developing critical sportsmanship / team building skills.

If you home school you shouldn’t have to pay taxes. It takes a lot of time and money to home school. Plus loss of income potential. The biggest problem we have run into w public schools is they over allocate funding towards sports instead of music and other great activities and schooling. Parents have zero control over curriculum, common core is a complete disaster. One size fits all education is ridiculous.
Schools do not teach how to research or free thought processing, critical thinking and basic life skills. Indoctrination has been the forefront of the teaching in public school.

Also our history and civil rights should not be manipulated! Text books are not teaching the Constitution and rights correctly.

So much here to unpack! School is nothing more than indoctrination camps currently. This is a huge issue!

Great points! You are right - much to unpack and you bring up some good ideas on how our failing education system could perhaps at least be slightly improved. The main reason we are homeschooling our children is to develop critical thinkers of our own who love to learn. I graduated from public school and thought I was below average intelligence and I believed that I was not “Good” at learning. Fast forward fifteen years and it turns out I love learning and even more importantly, I love teaching! If I can do anything as a father, it is to pass those lessons on to my children. I want them to love to learn as much as I do and be naturally curious about how everything works. Unfortunately our current education system does not teach that so my job as their father is to teach them the lessons they need to learn for themselves.

The tax credit should also apply to private schools if they want to switch from home schooling as well. Avoid vouchers to eliminate the strings that are attached by the government. Not income based either! I have a high income and am able to provide while my wife works her @@@ off doing the lions share of homeschooling all on our own dime (while our public schools get funded through my tax money).
