Homeschool tax credit for disabled veterans with non taxable income

100% disabled veterans, particularly those with Totally Disabled Individual Unemployability, and/or Permanent and Total ratings do not have taxable income. Without taxable income, most of the time there is no reason to file taxes. We are not able to receive the CTC or EIC for our dependents due to the inability to work. I propose the homeschool tax credit be different in the way that you don’t have to have taxable income to receive it, if you are a disabled veteran with dependents with TDIU or 100 Permanent and Total, it would be more like a grant.
I know I’m not the only veteran in my situation. My husband and I are both 100% disabled veterans. His rating includes TDIU, mine is P&T. We are home everyday and have 5 young children homeschooled. We feel since we can’t work, we can at least give our kids a good education. Typically with a tax credit, we wouldn’t get any of it because the VA disability pay is non taxable income. It’s our only income and will continue to be because we cannot work due to our disabilities. Not because we are lazy or uneducated, but we can’t due to circumstances beyond our control. We would also like to receive what others can receive for homeschooling their children.
We understand not getting CTC or EIC because they are income based, that’s not the issue. But this one is an issue because we can also greatly benefit our children’s education with this credit. VA disability pay is just enough, not more than enough. I don’t think it would be fair to families like ours to miss out on $10k per child, per year because our disabilities prevent us from working. It actually punishes those with disabilities should it be like CTC and EIC.
