Why not create a Healthcare system that is as accessible and affordable and regulated like Water, Gas and Electrc Utility Services?
Everyone,as an example considers Water as something entities that are for profit should not be
should not be allowed to control. Hence, a public utility service was created locally. Water is what all humans need to live and therefore it has been deemed necessary to regulate water so that the need for water cannot be used to profit any one person or group as it is immoral and creates incentives to monopolize a commodity for profit…How is access to healthcare different than access to water from a moral perspective? I argue that from a moral perspective there is none. I am not suggesting a system of socialized medicine, nationwide either. The shear breadth of what healthcare is cannot be defined as a commodity which presents the first obstacle to create a utility but we have ways to define who pays what according to system engagement. Water companies impose surharges if your usage exceeds the median as an example. Also utilities are built around the demographics of the community. So in health care the density of population vs the available providers determine would be how each area defines thier local Healyhcare Access Pounts. The system is built around the needs of it population…not around the for profit Insurance company that can put a gun to your head, when you get cancer. As a nation, we currently spend more on healthcare than our GDP with out having the best outcomes. Healthcare Utlities could provie free or very low cost preventive services such early examinations, vitamin supplemntation and oter things that will curve the trends we currently spend 90% or most of our healthcare dollars on which are primarily for chronic conditions, we as a society are suffering from, obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes, heart issues, cancer…How we spend the dollars is more important than how much we spend…The current system panders to a for profit Industry, which is terrible for the health of our so called healthcare system.
