Health Care for the people

Healthcare should be affordable to ALL citizens. Especially the elderly! Sometimes medicare doesn’t cover the cost of procedures recommended by a patients Dr. The insurance companies should NOT have a say in this or be able to over ride a Dr.

I love the sentiment behind your proposal. I would like to mention a few things: The fundamental way the medical industry developed and continues to operate in America is as a for-profit business. This hasn’t been all bad. Most modern medicine was made possible by medical professionals being incentivized by money to improve equipment, drugs, etc. However, the downsides of medicine for-profit are severe and have become one of our biggest problems. Socialized medicine has proven to be an equally bad way to provide medicine for a nation. I speak from direct, personal experience. There is a reason why anyone with money comes to America for medical treatment rather than use the socialized medicine in their own country. So- what is the answer?
I suggest that what we need to take the profit out of any and all businesses that will be classed as “Healthcare” related. Create a new category of non-profit corporation with new, highly restrictive rules on how income is defined and handled- with excess being taxed 100% and used to keep the system in the black. All salaries would have to be capped and transparent. I suggest that a new Federal Sales tax (without exceptions or exclusions) would be needed to fund healthcare for all Americans. That tax would have to be created in such a way that it could never be used for any other purpose, no other Federal Sales taxes could be created, and it would require a 3/4 majority of Congress and Presidential signature to be increased.
