The problem with education is we have people who have never been in the classroom, making decisions. Decision makers on education should include current teachers. We have way too much mandated assessments and it’s stressful for students. Bring back learning through play in kindergarten. Bring back giving consequences to students and being respectful to teachers. I am an ELD teacher, and I have students that will never pass the WIDA assessment because of their disability. We need to include teacher input into decisions as well, not just base it on tests.

Being married to a teacher, I preach about this constantly. Suits shouldn’t be deciding how or what is being taught in a classroom

Unfortunately a lot of lawsuits have mandated so many of the idiocy going on in schools.
But, I would also love to see no administrative position filled by anyone without 10 years of classroom instruction. So many of the problems we have in schools would be solved with this alone.
