H.R.6023 - Veteran Restitution and Justice Act of 2023

The VRJ act was first introduced in 2022. Did you know that 1 in 3 women and 1 in 50 men are sexually assaulted while serving in the US Military? Usually, they are not reported because of shame, fear and guilt but one of the main reasons - the military is not on the victim’s side. I have seen it happen firsthand, I myself was a victim. I have met many other soldiers in PTSD and MST workshops that tell the same story. Hardly no one is prosecuted. If reported the attacker is usually relocated to another base and the victim gets out of service. It is a career ending event that causes mental, social, economic, addiction and life issues. As with any organization the military is responsible for the wellbeing of our soldiers and when they do not, they need to take responsibility!
