I’ve seen where other countries give their fresh produce nearing expiration/over-ripeness, to the local homeless and less fortunate, before throwing it away. These items are boxed up in a variety and handed out daily, for immediate consumption.
These big box grocers could be a lifeline to so many. Look out for your neighbors first before shipping these items out to “shelters” that are too far for some to travel.
Not just produce. There are meat and dairy items that can also be boxed up and handed out before expiration.
Our voice matters. Let’s help our neighbors, those closer (in proximity) to us, first.
