Government loans

With inflation rates and poor economy many citizens have had to use credit cards to buy necessities in order to make it. Credit card interest rates have also increased, adding to the poor situation many Americans find themselves in. I propose a government program to loan money to American citizens which MUST go to the credit card companies (maybe directly) to pay off outstanding balances. These loans would then be paid back to the government at a much lower interest rate. This would create revenue for the government and release citizens from the heavy burden of tremendous interest in an already poor economy.
