I propose replacing the American Dollar with a new currency backed by a collection of multiple resources. This is an idea which has already been passed around (What Are Asset-Backed Currencies and Why Do We Need Them? | by CoreLedger | CoreLedger | Medium). There are several arguments for it.
The most pressing matter is that foreign enemies of the United States are planning to create a new currency which could replace the American Dollar as the international reserve currency, and cause serious harm to the American economy in the process (BRICS Currency Could End Dollar Dominance).
Another concern is that, regardless of how fiscally responsible the current administration may be, there is no guarantee that the next administration might resume printing money, and cause hyperinflation.
There are several resources which could back this currency. I have compiled a list of resources which are abundant within the borders of the United States, which have relatively stable prices, and which are widely used in the American Economy.
