I am proposing that all public schools should adopt a daily course that allows for the study, prayer, meditations, worship, and doctrinal learning from various religious institutions. This course will enable the school to work with community religious organizations to have teachers of their religions available to teach children during this time. Parents will have the option to enable their children to join offered religious courses of their choosing at the established time. Parents who do not want their children to study and/or worship a particular religion would have alternative secular courses offered at the same time. This will allow God, prayer, and worship to be taught in our public schools in a balanced and fair way.
A good example of this proposal is already working is in the Utah public schools where parents can opt their children into attending a Seminary course for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints during school hours. This type of program would be offered to all religious institutions desiring to send their own teachers at the designated time period.
