Hospitals make a lot of money from selling organs that are from organ donors, where the family of the organ donors don’t ever see any of that money. What should happen instead is that the family get 60% to 70% of the money hospitals charge for each organ they use. The hospital still needs to find someone that needs the organ and keep it safe and working. That is why they get at least 20% to 30% of the selling of the organ.
This may lead to more people signing up to becoming organ donors.
Another thing that can be done is to make everyone an organ donor and if you don’t want to be an organ donor all you would need to do is call or go online to get off of the donor list.
