Thousands of pets are euthanized in he U.S daily due to overpopulation. A average of 2.7 million were killed last year. People often can’t afford to spay and neuter their pets causing more kittens and puppies. The pets euthanized usually are perfect family animals and are being killed due to improper funding at shelters. Shelter often do not have the money to fix and feed these helpless animals !
I have been searching for an organization or someway to work towards this. I am not sure if it needs to start at a state level first and then expand but there is absolutely no reason we should kill animals when unwanted litters could be stopped with that money. We should ban it strictly regulate breeding. People breed mixed animals and call them catchy names. Another thing is why are we killing cats? Especially in the rural areas. Most cats are self sufficient and keep down unwanted pests. If we spent the money on spay and neutering and giving medical attention when needed this would be a non issue. The cats that would benefit from being in a home can have that and those that would like to be free can become farm cats and community cats. I would be very interested in working with an organization that is working on this. Other countries can do this why can’t we?
Yes!!! Killing young healthy animals is disgusting. So much money wasted in the government that could be used to save animals lives, it’s a huge nationwide necessity all Americans want! Spay and neuter should also be either extremely affordable or covered by the government. We desperately need to get the dog and cat population under control, rescues are drowning crying to help.
