Fruit trees and community gardens

We need fruit trees, and community gardens EVERYWHERE! Why do we have to follow rules and ordinances that tell us what we can do to feed ourselves? Because we are money cows to the government.

I could envision, in our small rural Main street corner, planting gardens on top flat roofs. It would serve the homeless with nutritious food, inspire young people to go into farming, be a great use of the old buildings roofs. New building should be made to accommodate roof farms (in Missouri, lots of sunshine here and shortened winters).

As for trees, we need more education on how to grow fruit trees, how to use organics to spray trees, tree pruning. Why can’t little orchards be planted, just need 2 trees at least in an area.

Master Gardners could all help out.

Having fruit trees and bushes where people can have food. Blueberries, raspberries, strawberries. There is no reason we shouldn’t have this available. Walking home from the park, you can pick some berries. It’s great idea to provide healthy nutrition to all.

I am a huge supporter of this idea! I’ve tried in my local community but there doesn’t seem to be any interest in backing it! Plus we need female trees to soak up the pollen of all these male trees! Sinus issues anyone!

I love this, but think is\t should be a more local-focused effort.

there needs to be something like a steward or janitor, caring for the trees, for the safety of every one, and who can teach the people what to do with them, maybe do classes for schoolchildren snd interested adults…

it would need tax money, but I’d say this is tax money well spent.

This would also help cool the earth, and provide oxygen. I agree that we would need people to get involved and maybe have a person run lead and teach but its beneficial ON MANY levels. Im hoping this one gets seen. Humanity needs a restart in the right direction.

I agree but it needs to start at the top. Right now in some areas the government wants you to register your gardens and some are detroying gardens. We need to start over and learn to take care of ourselves instead of feeding money to big corporations who could care less about us.

Im in sw fl the pollen here is awful. Issue here is in certain areas government officials are destroying gardens or want you to register them. Its a control thing. Just like in my area you are not allowed to have chickens. I think this would benefit humanity on many levels
