Everyone makes mistakes and people change. I would love to see people who have turned their life completely around in measurable ways such as their contribution to society, their time away from the original offence (over 20 years for me), character tests or affidavits, credit score, length of gainful employment, and any other metric deemed acceptable to be given an actual second chance. Felons are kept from being teachers, realtors, nurses, and most other professional careers for life. Not all crimes can be expunged and many can not afford this option for the exact reason that is the issue. Good jobs are withheld from people who made childish mistakes in their youth. People can learn from their mistakes and not re-offend. These individuals should be given an opportunity to work in careers they have passion for without being held captive by their past.
