Freedom of Movement/Travel as a Right!

As technology advances the government (or companies) could control our ability to travel or migrate. The ability to move around free of restrictions (outside of obviously restricted government bases etc) should never be hindered and the constitution needs to reflect that!

  1. We are being told that only a federal ID will be acceptable for flying in the near future (the date keeps getting pushed back but i believe it is currently May 2025). These IDs will inevitably contain information (either now or in the future) that could allow someone to be restricted from traveling by plane (as long as travel by car is an option I can see some restrictions being allowable, but it is a clear indication that movement could be restricted).

  2. With the advent of autonomous vehicles our movements will be even easier to track and may eventually be restricted. Think of iRobot, if they dont want you going to church the building could be removed as a destination.

  3. Social credit scores have already been proposed in the United States. This is the very system that China uses in conjunction with facial recognition to control the movement of their citizens, especially dissonants.

  4. We know that movement restrictions were proposed during Covid using vaccine passports. This type of control cannot be allowed in the United States!

Because this freedom is so basic, it can easily be taken for granted. This also makes it devastating when lost. Details of implementation definitely exist (can one be disallowed to fly? What about drive or ride trains?)

But the risk this area poses warrants attention and considerations.
