I am hearing that free education will be rolled out. The idea of free education is great, but let’s limit the scope of programs available to jobs that are in great demand in the country. There are more people retiring from trades like plumbing, electrical, contracting, welding than new people entering the field. Incentivize people toward those (and other) in demand fields.
Agree but the high school should evaluate the students and not push everybody to colleges but to in courage trades . Creat summer camps where students develope and understand using their hands
Just paid a plumber more for 5 hours of work than I bring home in 2 weeks with a BS (which I paid for) & >25 years experience. Kinda tired of everyone wanting me to pay for their education. Plumbers, etc make more than enough to cover the cost of their training. Perhaps not right away, but that’s true for many professions. People need to please stop asking the rest of us to pay your way!
It also can depend on where u live what you can do in high school. Someone in the city doesn’t need some of thing we need in the south. Start coming up with stuff and get people and start with your governor for next year.
We should not be encouraging government to give more free things. The amount we spend on education has skyrocketed over the past decade from student loans alone, we will just be wasting more taxpayer money by encouraging free trades.
I think If a local government or state felt that they needed to encourage folks to get into a given industry through grants funded like the hope scholarships in GA I think that is ok, but I had to work and pay for school while going to school so I know this is doable. ( not fun, but not impossible)
I don’t think we need the feds to step in and pay for schooling. The market should be deciding this through better pay to attract workers in areas where a shortage exists. we as people need to better learn to weight the risk and rewards of getting additional education and trade school training. This is an investment in yourself and just like any investment we need to make informed decisions and acknowledge all investments and growth require some sacrifice and risk.
We also have a massive federal deficit and debt that needs to come down. As a nation we need to think twice before using the credit card to pay for anything.
I said nothing about the government. They are giving the schools back to the state. And the states know more about what their people need. And can set up programs in high school for kids. Welding consist of. 1 math, and something else and it’s a 2 year program. But they do not have to have the same credits (as many bc they aren’t going to college.
And like a CNA class. The senior year. Science. And health, and then them pay for the actual test for their own License after they graduate. The. They can go straight to work.
Horticulture, science, planting (PE), i haven’t figured out winter time PE. Choosing fire wood (IDK) but horticulture would be what they were focused on.
U get people in your area to provide land and plant their garden, and say 4-H rep teaches horticulture science, from your college as a credit.
I’ve been thinking really hard.
None of this has anything to do with the government just the state government.
I agree we should encourage free education skilled workers. there is a significant shortage of skilled tradespeople like welders, plumbers electricians and CDL truck drivers. I know that in my area CDL classes cost 10k and most do not accept student loans.
Heavy equipment operator is a good class to include. Most of it isn't real physical, so it opens career paths to most students. Use Army/National Guard, or city works to facilitate training and testing sites and equipment access. These entities already have equipment.
Heavy equipment lease and rental companies are already structured to inspect and maintain units that have had rough treatment. Provide tax break incentives for them to participate in this training.
Ah so you are talking more in high schools and at the state and local level?
That I can defiantly get behind. Getting students Carrera ready out of Highschool .
My apologies most of the posts I have seen have been for federal programs.
There are places that offer free education for the trades. I live in Warren County, Ohio. Kids in High School have the option to enroll in the Warren County Career Center their Junior & Senior year. There they continue to take the “usual” academic classes they need to graduate while also going to their “lab,” i.e., trade field of choice. LOTS of local companies work together with the Career Center to recruit the students for job placement. Once they are available for benefits, the companies often send the kids to school to continue their trade education, & the company pays for it.
My son chose this route and is currently working full time & going to school to be a Journeyman Electrician—all completely free of charge.
Yes. Love it. Why not make all education free? Why are we paying to learn anyway? Why should our career and professions be based on how much we can pay to learn it? So I can’t afford to be a doctor so I’ll just be a cashier not that there’s anything wrong with that if that is what I choose and I’m not forced to pick it. Right? Student loans are nefarious and through NESARA will have to be taken out. Seems kind of skewed and biased toward the wealthy. Through humanitarian funding we can create an entirely new higher academic learning System where we collectively share the teaching of those who want to learn based on our own passions, skills, and knowledge. I say bring back the Academies! Great discussion!
There is free education right now through the Biden Administration for Community College. It’s an amazing opportunity for young people to get an education without their parents going under because of it. Unfortunately, the orange monster will surely do away with that.
Maybe instead of free (as in making the government pay for it at any level) perhaps we could investigate why it costs so much.
Degrees cost huge amounts of money, leaving people burdened with debt for a good percentage of their life. Does it really cost so much to teach classes? The teachers aren’t usually paid fantastically. Where is this money going? Why are the numbers on the cost of an education so high?
Perhaps we could encourage more people into higher education of all sorts by making it more affordable to do it. Then they can pay for it themselves.
No he’s making what’s called the American school all free to everyone. I have a feeling some of it is going to be done with AI bc you can get a degree faster.
I’m also (me hoping). That they cut some of the classs that is not needed for what your planning on working in.
Say construction management. The classes you need to fully function in that world could be done in 1 year and if you choose that route 6 months following around the general formans and supervisors. Before u get your office. Which in my opinion they need to anyway. To learn what they are bidding on and how the people in the field work and why they can’t work with what you are giving them ect. But I’m only hoping on that part. Reply to me and so after I get back from going and picking up everything I need from town . I’ll try to find the clip.
There are states like Tennessee that already have programs for vocations or community college coverage for all residents. I think that promoting blue collar fields of specialty needs to be a priority the same way that people have been pushing for 4 year degrees (many without public need).
This needs to be national, following the old WPA model from the 1930s…possibly subsidized and not “free” … as it is not “FREE”… we (taxpayers) will pay for it?
What about HVAC?
