I was born during the sharp rise in ADHD, ADD, and Autism diagnosis in the 90’s. These are new diseases that humanity has humanity has almost never suffered before then.
Not to mention we have a rising epidemic of diagnosis of bi-polar disorder, schizophrenia, depression, anxiety disorders, Gender Identity disorders, etc.
I know healthcare is an expensive field, but mental healthcare services are astronomical in price, well beyond affordable limits for those in the middle class or lower. Just to see a decent therapist cost anywhere from $50 to well over $100.
We clearly have a serious problem with mentally unstable children and adults, who are not getting the treatment they need, and it is clearly a cost related issue. I dont want all medicine free, but we need to give this service at the very least, especially when this is one of the few disorders that is directly attributable to suicide rates.
