Currently 1 in every 279 people have lynch syndrome in the USA, (a genetic mutation increasing a persons chances of getting colorectal cancer up to 80%) In 2024 it’s estimated that 152,810 people will be diagnosed with colon cancer, claiming the lives of 53,010 of those people. But in our country having Lynch Syndrome and this increased chance of getting cancer does not automatically qualify you for receiving FREE colonoscopies (a procedure that can save someone’s life with early detection) unless you are over the age of 45 or have had pre cancerous polyps removed you are looking at an out of pocket cost of $1,200-$$5,000 for a colonoscopy.
