We, the undersigned, call for immediate action to address the ongoing water contamination crisis in Grand Rapids and surrounding areas. The following points outline the severe concerns that necessitate this action:
42,000 People Without Clean Water: Currently, 42,000 residents are still without access to clean, safe water and are being continuously poisoned by the contaminated water supply.

Free Testing: We demand the immediate provision of free chemical testing for water and blood to identify and monitor the presence of harmful substances in our bodies and water supply.
Full Investigation and Frequent Testing: We call for a full investigation of the water company and mandate that water testing be conducted every three months by multiple independent entities. This testing must include all PFAS substances and cover thousands of contaminants, not just a few. We need comprehensive testing to ensure that our water is safe from all harmful substances, replacing the inadequate current practice of testing every three years.
Zero Tolerance for Chemicals: We demand a zero-tolerance policy for chemicals in our drinking water. No level of contamination is acceptable, and immediate measures must be taken to ensure all drinking water is free from harmful substances.
Zero Tolerance for Chemical Dumping: We demand a zero-tolerance policy for dumping chemicals into ANY RIVER or LAKE, with a $100 million fine for any violations & life in prison. The Grand River serves as a critical water source and recreational area continuous dumping of toxic substances severely degrades water quality and endangers public health. This fine will ensure that violators are held accountable for the damage caused and will serve as a strong deterrent against future violations. Immediate and effective measures must be enforced to stop this pollution and prevent further environmental harm.
Zero Tolerance for Water Company Poisoning: We demand a zero-tolerance policy for any water company poisoning people. Those responsible should face life imprisonment without parole and a minimum $100 million fine. They must also cover all costs associated with the affected areas. This stringent measure is necessary to hold accountable those who endanger public health through their negligence and misconduct.
Lack of Transparency and Accountability: There has been a failure to address these critical issues transparently, leaving residents uninformed and unable to make safe choices about their water consumption.
Deploy Troops for Cleanup Operations: Utilize the specialized skills and equipment of the U.S. military to assist in the removal of hazardous chemicals from contaminated water sources. This includes deploying engineering units and environmental specialists to conduct thorough cleanup and remediation efforts.
Support Water Filtration and Treatment: Provide military resources to support the installation and maintenance of advanced water filtration and treatment systems. This will help ensure that contaminated water sources are properly cleaned and made safe for consumption.
Clean Up Rivers and Lakes: Immediate action is needed to clean up our rivers and lakes that have been severely impacted by contamination. Comprehensive cleanup efforts are essential to restore the health of our natural water bodies and ensure safe recreational and drinking water. We have a plan for that link is at the bottom.
Life Imprisonment for Chemical Polluters: We demand that those responsible for knowingly and negligently polluting our water sources face life imprisonment without the possibility of parole. This harsh penalty reflects the severity of their actions and the devastating impact on public health and the environment.
Remove All EPA Members in Office: Every member of the EPA currently in office should be removed. Their failure to effectively manage and regulate water safety has contributed to the current crisis, and new leadership is needed to address these critical issues.
Prioritize Michigan’s Needs: It is unbelievable that we can send 40,000 troops to Israel & Ukraine but not Michigan. We send BILLIONS to other countries but cant give our own people clean water?
Reason
This petition is deeply important to me because it addresses a critical and personal issue affecting my community. The ongoing water contamination crisis in Michigan represents a severe threat to public health, impacting thousands of residents who are exposed to dangerous chemicals in their drinking water. As someone who is dedicated to ensuring safe and clean water for everyone, it is disheartening to see the lack of immediate and effective action taken to resolve this crisis.
The urgency of this issue is heightened by the fact that while resources and support are extended to other countries, our own state struggles to secure the necessary attention and resources to address its own water contamination problems. This disparity highlights the need for prioritizing the well-being of our communities.
Moreover, the current approach to managing and remediating the contamination has proven inadequate. The lack of comprehensive testing, the continued presence of hazardous substances, and the ineffective penalties for polluters all contribute to the ongoing risk faced by residents. This petition aims to push for the necessary changes and actions to protect public health and ensure accountability.
By advocating for military assistance in cleanup efforts, stricter penalties for polluters, and the removal of ineffective EPA officials, this petition seeks to bring about substantial and meaningful improvements. It is a call to action to ensure that our government prioritizes the health and safety of its citizens and takes decisive steps to address the environmental and public health crisis we are facing. We have been devastated from water contamination like many others i will not rest until ITS DONE! here is a plan how to clean the rivers 96% of all our water in Michigan is fish impaired and impaired by DNR here is links for everything PureWaters Alliance | Facebook
