In many parts of America, food insecurity is crippling the education of our children, as well as our workforce. Children cannot have proper brain development without proper nutrition, and should never go hungry in a public school setting. Many families can no longer afford school lunch prices of $4-$7 per meal, especially if they have multiple children. It’s also difficult for teachers and staff that are historically underpaid to afford food. With as much agricultural waste we produce in the United States, there’s no reason government commodities and subsidies shouldn’t go to ever school in America. Instead of making schools apply for grants based on Title I status, make it free for anyone under the public school umbrella. Take away the horrible school lunch policies that were passed under Obama’s administration, and bring real food back to our schools! Chicken pot pie, turkey and dressing for holidays, chili or vegetable soups with grilled cheese or peanut butter and honey sandwiches, and homemade rolls and desserts. Let’s work together to Make School Lunches Great Again!

As a retired teacher I saw our trac $ wasted on this. Being picked up in Tahoes and BMWs can afford to list for their kids food. There needs to be more stringent qualifications to assure zero fraud.
