Former Spouses Protection Act

This act was instituted in the 80s and marriage has significantly changed since then. Their are numerous horror stories on the results of it. Division of Military pay needs to change to a former spouse and no longer be for life. Former spouses should only receive a division for the same length of time as the marriage (at most). The vet signs for life, a former spouse does not. The retirement benefit is a result of service, not removing funds from the marriage as private retirement funds do. This law is outdated and damaging to the militaries recruiting ability.
