Force Politicians to Fight in their own Wars

If a politician votes for a war, their seat is immediately vacated and they are assigned to a frontline unit to serve in as a private. They van resume their term should the war be over before the end of their term.

They are not allowed to leave the war zone until the war is over. If the war takes 20 years, they will have to spend all 20 years there. No R&R, no leave, even if they die of old age in the front lines.

If they are too old or unfit to serve their “aye” vote is nullified and their seat is automatically up for election and they are evicted from congress.

If their NCO, or commanding officer gives them favorable treatment and shields them from life threatening missions and tasks in the war zone, any member of their squad/batallion can sue them civilly and in military court with severe punishment.

This policy would break up the hunger games-style elitist attitude that our ruling class can attend cocktail parties while we die for their amusement.

It would dramatically cut down our foreign waste and unnecessary & counterproductive military nationbuilding. It would reduce the duration of these campaigns and would mean we would only ever go to war if our politicians are willing to Personally Die for the cause.

PS: Desertion would be punished by firing squad.

I guarantee you the forever wars would end over night. They are all cowards. None of them would do it.

My idea would be they should be mandatorily made to be at the front lines for a week with journalists and reporters to sign-off and view the decisions they made. We can call this week-long event, ‘Initialization Week’.

I would encourage a policy where in order to initilize any conflict, they would be require to go to the front lines to sign-off with signatures from generals and commanders of the frontlines that they are approving their decisions for initializing conflict. They would be required to meet the soldiers, the wounded, examine the hardware used for battle, and provide speeches for the troops. We can call this idea ‘Initialization of Conflict’ or ‘Signing-out the Initialization of Conflict’.

After a week, the politicians who voted for the conflict, can return home and continue their duties. The signatures of generals and commanders can be put on display as a symbol of approving and initializing a conflict.
