Food Assistance Revised similar to WIC

My proposed policy is to reform the Food Assistance (SNAP) program to mirror the Womans, Infant, and Children (WIC) program. WIC requires individuals to pick fruits, vegetables, proteins, and grains from appoved list providing good nutrition for the mother and children. The same can be done for the rest of Americans on food assistance. Families and individuals receiving benefits would be required to bring healthy food into the household.

My policy would also require food grading A-F labels on all food packaging. (Bad ingredients would warrant a lower grade). Many other countries required this on all food items. This will bring awareness to all customers buying food.

Main Point: WIC benefits are based on nutritional needs, SNAP is not. This needs to be done ASAP.

Totally agree with this, working in retail and seeing the unhealthy junk that is purchased on food stamps. You can buy candy, soda, chips, but no hot sandwich, from a gas station on food stamps.
