Fix the VA

Merge VA Hospitals and Clinics into Community hospitals and clinics. Roll administration and finances into Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid.

President Trump had fixed many issues with the VA healthcare system and made community care an option. In the last 3 years, getting needed appointments are all to often next to impossible. The VA sent me to an outside pain management clinic for 3 years because the wait time to get into the VA Pain clinic was so long. It took over a year and a motorcycle wreck to get in to see an Orthopedic surgeon for a torn rotator cuff.

In Augusta GA there are two campuses for VA Hospitals about 5 miles apart from each other. This leads to duplication of clinics and or services such as 2 separate Prosthetics departments. Close one, and either sell it to the community or reuse it as a new housing unit for disabled, retired or homeless veterans. This would reduce grounds/facility costs and provide much needed housing for those who served and sacrificed. Farm out services to hospitals and clinics in the community, cutting costs and improving wait times.

The VA has been supporting Medical billing for illegal immigrants, using resources sorely needed by Vets, and this has been one of the causes impacting wait times for vets.

If you roll up the VA into existing programs and facilities that serve the community such as Medicare, you can take the funding from the VA and use it to help finance entitlement programs helping extend the viability of programs like Social Security.

Rolling these medical services together will also help combat drug and treatment costs by increasing the purchasing power of all of these programs,.
