Fix our broken healthcare system

Hospital and healthcare administration: Top administrators should have medical degrees and backgrounds. CEOs, COOs etc with business and financial degrees will always put profit over patients. Our healthcare system is broken because it is viewed and managed as a business. There is a huge disconnect between administration and the clinical staff. We must put patients first. Give the decision making back to the medical professionals. Large healthcare companies with CEOs who received multi million dollar bonuses during COVID while I was frontline in the ICU reusing the same single use n95 and sanitizing and reusing my single use CAPR face shield for weeks need to be investigated. We need a healthcare system where the ones making the decisions are the ones with their hands on the patients. Put the CARE back in healthcare!

I agree. Permanent staffers should be paid the same or more than agency nurses. Agency staff are paid more than regular staff members, which is a problem.

I agree that why I went agency. The pay as a full time staff is absurd not only for the nurses but for the rest of the professional staff. I’m a certified surgical technician and what we are paid is so much lower than the nurses. Most of us have a degree and are paid less. The AST is a joke and doesn’t stand up for us like AORN does for the nurses.
